Friday September 10, 2010 Shari Puorto at the Bistro!!! 8pm to 12 pm
Shari Puorto-vocals,Gerry Duran-vocals/keys Todd Robinson-guitar Currently residing in Los Angeles Shari Puorto is a soulful singer with a sexy and raspy sound, she immediately brings Janis Joplin to mind. Like Joplin, Puorto is a passionate performer with an energy that can rattle the foam in a pint of Pilsner. Kevin, Pubclub.com You would think Sharis been doing this forever. She has the sensibility of an old soul reborn and is undeniably passionate. She is a powerful and dynamic live performer who quickly and quite naturally connects with her audience. (Shes likely to steal your heart if you get too close!) Her intensity and warm nature shines through her singing and performances. Exec. Producer Ken Andrews SBMA, Sharis amazing vocal strength and soulful delivery combined with her high energy live performance is a combination that makes her one of today's hottest performers. Jim Santella, Southland Blues Magazine writes, Shes all about passion and communication. Music Connection writes, "She exhibits sweet vocal tones and is never off key --she can sing!" The Shari Puorto Band is a unique sounding band that combines Rock/Blues/Pop and a whole lotta soul.

Friday September 17, 2010 ELNORA and Sumthin Cookin BACK at the BISTRO! 730 pm to 1130 pm
Elnora and Sumpthin Cookin was formed in November of 2002. About a month before, Elnora was singing and winning awards for Karaoke. She came by a local venue, Martini Blues to sing and eventually met Bob Hatcher, Chris OConnell and Gary (The Wagman) Wagner. Yes, that Gary. Bob and Chris were part of the house band and shortly thereafter, Gary started as the MC and Host. Chris OConnell (Guitar) had just left Blues Barbeque. Bob was playing in Blues On Arrival and together Elnora, Chris and Bob formed Elnora & Sumpthin Cookin. Initially we had many different drummers (some were really different!). A local character, Wolfman gave them the name Sumpthin Cookin and next thing you know we have Steve Solomon, The Professor playing Keys and Sax. Elnora had worked with him in the past and he was truly a great addition. After several drummers skipped their beats, we invited Mike Green to join the party. A swingin style, a nice guy and we get Rose and Desiree! Steves passing had us searching for another member to help out and we thank Brett Caplinger for filling in on Harp. We were harping on him to play keys since he is a wonderful ivory player, too. Took a little while, but hes stepped up and we all dig it! The band has enjoyed playing at most of the top venues in Southern California. With help from Gary and Billy Mitchell, we were booked to The Playboy Jazz Festival. Then it was B.B. Kings, Cozys, The Blue Cafe, Martini Blues, Newport Blues Festival, Rennaisance, Mahe, Busters, The Little Red Rooster, to Stubricks Steakhouse and many more. Together with the Southern California Blues Society, we are often participants (or instigators) for many of the benefit concerts: Hurricane Katrina, Tsunami Victims, Long Beach AIDS Society, Olive Crest Childrens Home, and a few local Blues legends in their time of need. If we can help, count us in!
